BPS Toba Regency Attends DPR RI Recess Activities in Balige

Wednesday, December 11, 2024, BPS Toba Regency also attended the recess activities of members of the DPR RI Commission X, Drs. Sabam Sinaga, MM, which was held at the Hall of SMK Negeri 1 Balige at 15.00-18.00 WIB. In this event, the Head of BPS Toba Regency, Sabar Alberto Harianja, was accompanied by Martina Situmorang, Andre Pardosi, and Maria Sintauli Hutauruk. The activity was also attended by the Head of the Toba Regency Library and Archives Service, representatives of the Toba Regency Education, Youth, and Sports Service, representatives of the Toba Regency DPRD, and people from various regions in Toba Regency.

The event was opened by the Regent of Toba Regency who was represented by the Head of the Toba Regency Library and Archives Service, Ir. Togap H. Sitorus. Next, Sabam Sinaga, a member of Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, in his speech opened a discussion space on important issues in the fields of Education, Sports, Science, and Technology. He emphasized his support for various efforts to improve these fields in Toba Regency.

On that occasion, the Head of the Toba Regency BPS, Sabar Harianja, also presented several data relevant to the condition of education in Toba Regency. He highlighted the high level of poverty in the area, which is closely related to the quality of education.

Several aspirations were also conveyed by the audience. One representative from the Toba Regency Education and Sports Office complained about the absence of sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor, in Toba Regency. This is considered to hinder the development of sports in the region. In addition, it was also proposed that entrepreneurship training be held to increase the capacity of youth in Toba Regency.

Other participants expressed problems related to the high cost of education which is increasingly difficult for many families to afford. In addition, the school zoning system is also a complaint from the community, which is felt to complicate access to education and cause various other problems.

Responding to these aspirations, Sabam Sinaga provided a number of constructive responses. He is committed to working towards resolving this issue through policies that support regional development.
